On Wednesday I nipped to the Bhs showroom to have a sneak peek at their High Summer collection – it sounds ridiculous considering the weather outside but then again that is the crazy pace of the design world.

I liked what I  saw: bright, unashamedly clashing stripes all over cushions, picnic plates and even a large hammock. There were also bright teal blue, moss green and raspberry pink cushions, in crushed velour and cotton – very on trend and (to my great joy) paying no heed to the current obsession with retro pastels. I say, if you are going for colour, go all out.

But the collection which really made my heart sing was the “Bohemia” range, with cream wrought iron garden furniture and vintage-style whitewashed hampers with strawberry lining. Think lazy summer days languishing in a Cabbages & Roses dress and making perfect daisy chains.

For now, I will definitely be investing in one of their lovely cream hanging birdcages – a steal at £25 and so pretty you could hang it anywhere.

I am loving the wrought iron range – BHS always does good stuff like that on a budget. Who needs Cath Kidston cushions!? But not sure about the acid green at all!
