Along with the rest of the world, the mydeco team were shocked to hear the tragic news of British design legend Alexander McQueen’s death yesterday.

His influence on the design world will live on in history, reaching beyond fashion to interior design and popular culture across the globe. Defining a whole generation of design fans, McQueen’s iconic skull scarf is still top of many a fashionista’s list, and it is no coincidence that the fashion and interiors worlds are still brimming with skull designs almost five years after its initial appearance on the catwalk.

Whatever your interior style, be it digital stripes, highland tartan or gothic decadence, the four-times British Designer of the Year will have undoubtedly been the one who made it cool.

We hope the McQueen influence lives on and that British design can continue to scale such fantastic heights.

Check out the interior of Alexander McQueen’s East London home, which he sold last summer.
