The King of Pop-ular Design creates ethical fashion range! 13 July, 2009

He is well-established as one of the greatest product designers of our time, but watch out- Philippe Starck is raising his profile in the highly influential fashionista’s circle as well. He has created a non-fashion, fashion collection for men and women by collaborating with Scottish cashmere company, Ballantyne.

A direct response to the depressing and destructive trend of over-consumption within the fashion industry, this collection comprises “new ergonomics and contemporary fittings” with “intelligent cashmere”. Multi-functionality is the signature style for the “S+arck With Ballantyne” range and will arrive in Ballantyne flagship and selected stores across the UK in October. Fluorescent textiles distract you from the camouflaged pockets and detachable waistcoats, which are in turn, juxtaposed by double-position collars. And as Starck boasts that the clothes are non-photogenic, I wonder how they will be received by the vain main vein of the Fashion world?

Thank god, the future of ready to wear fashion is looking Starck!
