A mahogany bergere chair that was once used by Napoleon Bonaparte has been rediscovered. This Napoleon-dynamite find even shows the scratches from when he scraped a penknife across its wood in the Nineteenth Century. For all historians and furniture aficionados you won’t be pleased to know that the French Emperor’s chair has been hidden in storage for thirteen years at Maidstone Museum. However, it will soon go on display in their new east wing extension.

No doubt Napoleon would have loved these bergere chairs too

This mahogany and leather bergere armchair (£399) from Amazon is a twenty-first century version of Napoleon’s. On its right, the beautifully upholstered Valbonne French bergere chair (£513.80) at BTC by Design would have surely received his royal blessing.

The chair almost certainly never belonged to Napoleon. The whole story is most dubious! See my blog.
