If you’re like me you may not be able to help feeling a bit smug when a celeb tries to bend the law and fails. Crooner Sir Cliff Richard has found out that even creaking celebrities such as himself aren’t immune to the strict rules of planning permission with the council ordering his brand new conservatory to be bulldozed to the ground! A drop in the ocean to Cliff, he spent £30,000 building it as an extension to his Victorian style mansion – which he built to replace the original bungalow – in Virginia Water, Surrey, and only applied for permission after it was built. Silly Cliff.

Cliff could hit himself for over-looking vital planning permission requirements!

His illegal conservatory was discovered when he tried to sell the property although he claims he was told he didn’t need it when it was built a few years ago. Still, he doesn’t have much to sing about the situation as his new application has been denied. Money can’t buy you everything!

A conservatory is great for the summer  – if it isn’t bulldozed first…

Get your own Victorian conservatory with a Victorian Dwarf wall conservatory (£2,499.99) from Argos. A fraction of the price that Cliff paid – especially as his will soon be rubble!
