Believe it or not, geography has become cool. Forget lessons of erosion or population statistics, and instead take a savvy approach to decorating your home by exploring the exciting potential of maps. According to Ideal Home, ‘wallpaper, plates and cushions are just a few of the household items that can increasingly be seen sporting designs based on maps.’
We love this ‘small world’ trend at mydeco, and have picked out some of the coolest products on the market.
1. Wall stickers are becoming increasingly fashionable, and are not such a commitment as wallpaper. Having a silhouette of the world in your sitting room would be a bold and stylish statement.
2. Created by the Future Mapping Company, this large map of the world uses different colours to illustrate countries all on a grey background. This mounted frame would add a fun flash of colour to any home as well as being a useful reference point when planning your next holiday.
 3. There is something wonderfully intriguing about vintage maps. At Not on the High Street you can choose the country or continent of your choice when you buy their handmade vintage atlas bowl. For a more global outlook you could try their vintage world atlas mirror.
4. We also love this vintage map notebook from Morello Living. Use it as your globe jotter!
5. The best way to view the world is in its circular form. Our pick of the crop is this transparent Simplicity Globe. It is beautifully modern and contemporary and would enhance any sophisticated or professional atmosphere.
6. The world in not the limit when it comes to sources of inspiration. Representations of cities and even public transportation systems – such as the iconic London Underground map – can be found sprawled out across your favourite home furnishings. This tube map deck chair would be an awesome addition to your garden furniture.
